Many of you are asking if your order will arrive in time for the holidays. I thought I would let you all know that as of December 16th, my hands are on vacation from making jewelry until 1/1/12. However, that doesn’t mean I won’t be working answering emails, designing new products, and coming up with new giveaways for 2012! AND, if you are still hoping to give a gift in time for Christmas, just place your order and make a note in the order saying “please email certificate” and I will email you a beautiful place holder certificate the same day of your order right up until December 24th that you can print out and wrap up letting the person know a custom gift has been purchased for them.
As always, you can contact me at info@shopalloyjewelry.com. I reply to emails several times a day, so if longer than 24 hours goes by without me getting back to you, chances are I didn’t receive your email so feel free to get in touch again.
And, finally Merry Merry Christmas to everyone celebrating Christmas this year…and happy holidays to everyone else! xxooLeah
Alloy Jewelry is most well-known for its custom hand-stamped, personalized sterling silver and copper necklaces. Each piece in the collection is created to order and is different from the next, and is truly a unique gift for any mother, grandmother, bridesmaid, or friend. I hammer and hand-stamp each piece, so the options are endless as far as what I can create for you. You will fall in love with your custom necklace, and will never want to take it off!
The jewelry I make is not just your traditional “mommy jewelry”. In addition to stamping the names of your children, grandchildren, pets, and other relatives, I often make jewelry with quotes, inspirational phrases or words on them. I have stamped jewelry in loving memory of people who have passed away, made matching charms for circles of friends, and have stamped medic alert bracelets.
The options are endless.
Since I stamp each letter by hand onto each piece, the letters will not be perfectly aligned.
This adds character to the piece and is part of the charm of purchasing a handcrafted piece opposed to a factory-made piece.
~~About Leah…~~
I am a Vermonter who has spent time over the past ten years traveling from San Diego to Boston before returning to my home and settling in the Green Mountains. I have spent most of my work life as an editor, a career path that stemmed from a life long love of words. Outside of work, I always had some sort of project going, whether it was making dolls or rearranging furniture in my home. Jewelry making became a creative outlet for me that I wasn’t getting in my career.
Alloy Jewelry came about after the birth of my second son. I had been doing freelance editing for a publishing company and found it extremely hard to sit down in front of a computer to work after being exhausted from caring for a 2 year-old and an infant all day. With much encouragement from my dear family and friends, I decided to ditch editing and start selling my personalized creations. I instantly LOVED sitting down to “work” and would sneak away every quiet moment to complete orders.
As long as I can remember, my father has been dragging me into antique stores across Vermont. I remember my resistance to these adventures subsiding as I began to notice that each antique store had at least one glass case of historic, interesting, and breathtakingly beautiful estate jewelry. Now, upon entering every antique store I possibly can (completely voluntarily), I find myself admiring the antique brooches, rings, and earrings and wonder what the person who once owned each piece was like. (Oh, I now I BEG my father to take me away for the day and bring me to EVERY antique store we can fit in, much to his delight.)
Alloy Jewelry is set apart from simply being categorized as “mommy jewelry”. Yes, it is personalized and hand-stamped, but my tasteful designs make each piece an artisan work of wearable art, which happens to display the names of THE most important people in YOUR life. The mixture of metals and classic, simple, yet beautiful designs are inspired by my love of antiques and their timelessness. Each piece of Alloy Jewelry you own will become your favorite, and you will not want to take it off for years to come.
Much of Alloy Jewelry is made in my home, on a table strewn with books, tea cups and play dough, and in the midst of the shrill laughter of two mischievous children.
Trunk Shows
I love doing trunk shows at people’s homes! Trunk shows are a great excuse for you to have a get together with your friends, drink wine, and look at beautiful jewelry. Did you know, though, that you don’t have to live close to Vermont to host a trunk show? Please get in touch if you are interested. As a thank you, trunk show hosts get to pick out a custom-made necklace for themselves!
Caring for your Jewelry
Sterling silver and copper jewelry tarnishes after being exposed to air, and there is no way to prevent this completely. When copper tarnishes, it is known to have drawn toxins out of your body and often becomes different shades of interesting colors. If you prefer to keep your pieces shiny and bright, I highly suggest purchasing a polishing cloth and storing your piece in an air-tight plastic bag when you are not wearing it. I can add a polishing cloth to your order for $5, or you can get them at any jewelry seller in your area. Please keep in mind that this jewelry is not meant for children to wear, and in turn is not childproof!
Order Information – Privacy Policy – Shipping Information
Hand-stamped jewelry, because of the completely custom nature of the pieces, is not returnable. However, I want you to LOVE LOVE LOVE your piece, so if you don’t LOVE it, please contact me so that we can work something out. Communication throughout the ordering process will help me understand what you are hoping for in your piece, so please always contact me with any questions before ordering.
Occasionally, I do make mistakes. It doesn’t happen very often, and when it does I jump through hoops to correct it! I truly want you to be happy. Occasionally, the customer will make a mistake on their order and will misspell a name. If the error is on the customer’s end, I would LOVE to be able to give you a break and just remake the piece for no charge. However, as you can imagine, that’s not possible since this is a business I run from my home and every little bit counts. I will, though, do everything I can to make reordering easy for you by rushing the remake for you.
